Peanut butter lovers rejoice, because this one is just for you! It’s not every day when you get to see a peanut butter milkshake on the menu. Today, we are stepping away from the classic chocolate or vanilla milkshake flavors, and instead whipping up creamy and delicious peanut butter milkshakes. And one of the best parts is, only three ingredients are needed.
Jump to RecipeI am currently loving this easy peanut butter milkshake recipe during the warm Summer months, but I bet I’ll also be enjoying these milkshakes throughout Fall as well. The warm tones of the milkshake and fun toppings, such a Reese Pieces candies or crushed pretzels, gives me the Fall feels. Plus, it’s just super tasty! Hey, it’s the perfect Summer to Fall milkshake transition if you ask me. 🙂
EQUIPMENT
Not only is the ingredient list short for this recipe, but the equipment list is short as well. Gather a blender, an ice cream scooper and a measuring cup to make the milkshakes. Have clean tall drinking glasses or milkshake glasses ready to pour the peanut butter shakes into.
INGREDIENTS
- Ice Cream: Though, peanut butter may be the main flavor we are after, ice cream is still the main ingredient. So you will want to make sure to purchase a quality ice cream for the best flavor. Today I went with vanilla frozen yogurt. If you want a chocolate peanut butter shake, chocolate ice cream would also be a great option.
- Milk: When making milkshakes, I usually stick with whole milk, just because that is what I grew up with and am used to. Nostalgia, ya know? Feel free to use a milk alternative if you prefer, like coconut milk or oat milk. The milkshake will still taste great, but the end flavor will be altered a bit.
- Creamy Peanut Butter: Use your favorite creamy peanut butter, such as my go to, Justin’s Classic Peanut Butter.
- Toppings: If you ask me, toppings are a milkshake essential. It just makes the milkshakes more fun by adding a little pizzazz. Great toppings for the peanut butter milkshake is whipped cream, chocolate syrup, Reese’s Pieces, crushed pretzels, or peanuts.
See recipe card for quantities.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Add all the ingredients to the blender.
- Place the lid on the blender and blend until a smooth consistency is formed, around 15-30 seconds. If the milkshake is too thick, add a bit of additional milk and blend again, repeat until your desired shake thickness is met.
- Pour the milkshake into a tall glass or milkshake glass. Add toppings as desired. Enjoy!
MILKSHAKE VARIATIONS
Once you know the basics of how to make a peanut butter milkshake at home, make the shake a little more special with one of the variations below:
- Peanut & Hazelnut Butter Milkshakes: Reduce the amount of peanut butter used and add in a hazelnut spread, such as Nutella, for a salty and sweat duo.
- Peanut Butter Cup Milkshakes: Squirt some chocolate syrup around the inside of the glass for a fun look. Make the peanut butter milkshake and top it off with whipped cream and a peanut buttercup.
- Peanut Butter Caramel Milkshakes: Squirt caramel syrup around the inside of the glass. Pour in the peanut butter milkshake and top it off with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle.
Don’t stop with peanut butter milkshake variations! Milkshakes can be made with different ice cream flavors, added fruits, flavor extracts and more. Try one of the shake recipes below:
