EQUIPMENT
Minimal equipment is needed to make this coffee recipe. Grab your blender, an ice cream scooper and a measuring cup. Have clean tall drinking glasses or milkshake glasses ready to pour the coffee shakes into.
MILKSHAKE COFFEE INGREDIENTS & TOPPINGS
You know how you usually have that leftover coffee from your morning brew, well, don’t let it go to waste! Instead, grab some vanilla ice cream, milk, your leftover morning coffee, and half the work for this recipe is already done!
- Ice Cream: Vanilla ice cream is the main ingredient used to make milkshakes. Make sure to choose a good quality vanilla ice cream that doesn’t use artificial vanilla flavors for the best taste.
- Milk: For this recipe, I used whole milk. You can also use a milk alternative such as coconut milk or oat milk. The shake will still turn out great, but the flavor will be altered a bit.
- Brewed Coffee: Save your morning coffee and place it in the refrigerator, so it can chill. The colder the better.
- Toppings: Make your coffee milkshake a little more indulgent with some toppings, like whipped cream, cocoa powder as a dusting over the whipped cream and a biscotti cookie. How fun!

COFFEE MILKSHAKE VARIATIONS
Once you know how to make a mean coffee milkshake, you may want to mix it up a bit with something a little more indulgent. Try one of the coffee milkshake variations below:
- Coffee Mocha Milkshake: If you are someone that loves mocha lattes, maybe a coffee mocha milkshake will be your new jam. Squirt some chocolate syrup around the inside of the glass for a fun look. And then top the milkshake off with a chocolate syrup drizzle over the whipped cream.
- Boozy Baileys Milkshake: Any coffee milkshake is just begging to be turned into a boozy Baileys shake. Baileys Original Irish Cream is a blend of whiskey and cream with a bit of chocolate and vanilla flavors. After you pour the milkshake into the glasses, pour a bit of Baileys Irish Cream into the glass, stir, and then complete the milkshake with any desired toppings. A few other great flavors offered by Baileys that would also pair well is Baileys Salted Caramel or Baileys Espresso Crème.
Don’t stop there with the milkshake variations! Milkshakes can be made with different ice cream flavors, added fruits, flavor extracts and more!
